The actor made his debut on the show in Season 2, and about joining the already tight-knit cast:

Overstreet dated actress Halston Sage from January until April of 2014. The split was confirmed when she was spotted with Zac Efron, her costar on the 2014 comedy Neighbors at a Lakers’ game, days later.

He also dated , who he met at Coachella in 2011. They were together for nine months.

2. He Writes Original Songs

He started playing the guitar at 10, and then at 16 he began writing songs with his songwriter father. “My dad’s been a songwriter since the beginning of time, for me. But he helped bring me along, encouraged me, and definitely made me into the writer I am today,” .

As far as his writing process goes, , “There are some songs that have taken me six months to finish. They’re are also songs I’ve written in an hour. It’s just different. The process, usually when I’m writing about myself, sometimes it will just come out of you and that’s one of the times you just have to… it’s just natural, it flows, and it just feels right.”

3. He Makes an Appearance in His Brother’s Hot Chelle Rae Video

Chord’s older brother, is the lead guitar player of the pop rock band , and he put his brother in the band’s “Tonight Tonight” video.

In the video, Chord kisses the singer’s girlfriend, to the lyric “My girlfriend went and cheated on me.”

When asked if Chord gets his fair share of women, band member “I would say yes; whenever we’re hanging out we’re having a really really good time and usually a lot of women come up and talk to him.”

4. He Has a Musical Name

The musical gene runs in the Overstreet family. His father, , has written 27 Top 10 songs for stars like the Judds, Randy Travis and Blake Shelton.

Songs such as “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” by Kenny Chesney and “When You Say Nothing at All,” the tune made famous in Notting Hill, were also co written by the elder Overstreet.

In an , he explained his name’s origins. “I have four sisters and one brother – and I was the third one born. There are three notes in a chord, so that’s how I got that name. My dad’s in the music business, so he gave me a musical name.”

5. His Fave Guest Star Was John

When who his favorite guest star has been on the show, he answered, John Stamos.

He gushed, “I love John Stamos. John’s a really friendly, cool dude. I thought when I met him for the first time, ‘I wonder if this guy is going to be kind of a little bit of a…” but when I met him he ended up being one of the coolest guys and playfully makes jokes with everybody. I watched Full House. I loved Full House. He’s just a cool dude.”
