I would recommend in general if you want well designed a guitar with high quality sound, but don’t want to pay high end prices. While they do sell a couple of series for higher end prices, they have some of the greatest acoustic guitars out there that won’t break the bank.
Most of their prices range from $300-$500. As a general rule, you get what you pay for, but are definitely the exception.Seagull guitars are handmade in Canada, making them one of the only brands in their price range that is made in North America. And unlike other brands in this price range, Seagull didn’t settle for those laminate spruce tops.
Instead, they use pressure tested solid tops on all of their guitars. The top of the guitar is the most important part when producing a quality sound. Solid tops vibrate more freely than laminated tops, and that makes for a richer tone and better dynamic range.
The (my favorite of their guitars that I’ve played) is made with a cedar top, which produces the warm sound the S6 is so popular for. And that sound only gets better with time. The more you play your guitar, the more freely the top will be able to vibrate.
The neck of the made from Silver leaf maple. Seagull guitars uses Silver leaf maple or Mahogany on the necks of all of their guitars. They attach the headstock onto the necks of their guitars with the grain reversed to improve stability in the neck.
Their Integrated Neck System is designed to reduce natural warping of the neck. If the neck does become warped, Seagull has built a double function truss system into each of their guitars. This allows the neck to be straightened in either direction.
The headstocks are tapered to make easy to get in tune and keep in tune. The S6 also has a Compensated Tusq saddle, which is usually only found on higher-end guitars.Seagull guitars may be inexpensive, but they were definitely built to last.
Seagull produces guitars in a variety of body styles that are each crafted to produce it’s own unique sound. On all however, the body is narrower at the top to reduce unwanted boominess. This careful design in structure makes Seagull guitars great recording guitars.Aesthetically, the S6 isn’t extremely fancy or impressive, but I think there is something to be said for that simple, classic look. You can tell by looking at it that it was artfully designed.
The has won several awards and is at the top of many lists of best beginning guitars, though it is a great guitar for anyone. The S6 is easy to play and sounds great. The S6 also comes left handed while most models don’t. There is also a slim version available for players with smaller hands, and there is an acoustic-electric version available.Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, or looking for the perfect addition to your collection, the Seagull S6 Original is an excellent choice. Hope my review was your favorite of the many Seagull s6 Original Acoustic Guitar Reviews!
