As one of Simon’s more mature students I can’t recommend him highly enough. He has the patience and temperament of a 1st class teacher . With his help I have passed every exam and am now totally hooked on my hobby . Thanks mate looking forward to many more rewarding lessons .

John 27th February 2013 Last year I decided to blow the dust off the guitar sitting in

the corner of the living room and learn to play it properly. With the help and patience of Simon I managed to attain a distinction in the acoustic guitar Preliminary exam and feel I am well on my way to sitting the grade 1 exam. The method of tuition Simon uses works very well in that he enables you to learn at your own pace and does not leave you feeling that you are trying to do too much at once. I would strongly recommend anyone who is thinking of learning to play the guitar to speak to Simon.

Alison- 13th Febuary 2013 My daughter has been going to Playguitar for about a year now.  She had previously had informal lessons but we were looking for a guitar teacher who could provide some structure towards working towards guitar exams.  She has progressed really well and gained a Distinction for her first exam!  Simon is a great teacher who really knows his stuff – he is very patient and encouraging and my daughter has really enjoyed her lessons. Liz – 3rd Febuary 2013 Our sons (9 & 14 yrs) have been going to Simon for guitar lessons for the past 4 months. Simons’ warm, patient and quiet approach has really appealed to them and both are thoroughly enjoy going along. The oldest passed his preliminary grade exam with distinction thanks to Simon’s tuition and my sons’ consequent motivation to practise. I have found Simon to be very professional and excellent at keeping us in touch with whatevers happening. I would thoroughly recommend Play Guitar to anyone! [break] SusanW – 25 Apr 2012 My son Matthew (age 10) has been attending guitar lessons with Simon since September 2011. He had never played guitar before so we were both unsure if he would like it or be able to play! Simon has been very kind and patient and Matthew has progressed well with his first Initial Stage RGT exam this Saturday. As well as the exam work, Simon always gets Matthew additional songs he asks for (ie Star Wars) to practice and this helps to keep his interest whilst he plays lots of different strings. I’d played guitar for a while before I started, but in the past I’d always relied on guitar tabs, even though I could read standard notation from playing the piano. Since taking lessons with Simon I’ve learned to play using sheet music, my ability and confidence in improvising has increased dramatically, as has my understanding of music theory and I’ve passed 2 RGT exams with distinction(the highest possible grade). It is no coincidence that most of the reviews use the words encouraging and patient as they were the first two words I thought of to describe Simon too. Simon is very patient and explains things in such an easy way. I thought music was complicated and worried that it wouldn’t be fun for my son, but the way it is all explained by Simon is amazing. I think it is also verygood that the lessons take place in a location dedicated to the lesson and not in a home environment (wither that’s your own or the teacher) – I think it helps focus during the lesson.
