FAIRBRIDGE MUSIC FESTIVAL April 17th – 19th Brenda has been invited to perform three different 45 min sets of her original material over the festival weekend with her full band. One of her tracks is featured on the 2009 Fairbridge Festival compilation album. Brenda’s beautiful new CD “Postcards from Exile” can be purchased at the festival shop. August 22nd 8pm 2008 @ POSTCARDS FROM EXILE CD LAUNCH 8 pm Kulcha, Fremantle. Cost $15 At last the “Postcards From Exile” album is finally ready! It’s beautiful – we haven’t cut any corners and the whole process has been really exciting. The launch will be a fantastic event with the whole band playing on the night. And the awesome singer/songwriter/guitarist, Simon Nield will also do a solo support set to start the show. The main guitar and vocals were recorded for the album along with the bass & drums by James ‘Mr Magic’ Hewgill, in his North Perth studio. The awesome Ben Franz (The Waifs) has played some very tasteful parts on both acoustic and electric bass. Calvin Webb has added a great feel with his stylish kit playing, while Arun Satgunasingam (Blue Shaddy) has created some magic touches with his evocativehand percussion. Just to top it all off – the brilliant David Hyams himself plays acoustic and electric guitar, dobro or mandolin, to subltly embellish each track. The album wasoriginally planned as a 10 track CD – but I wrote two of the very best songs during pre-production and Dave talked me into adding them both! So now we have 12 heartfelt and beautifully produced acoustic pop/folk tracks on the album, which will be launched at Kulcha in Fremantle on Friday Agust 22nd at 8pm. SEPTEMBER

September 12th – 14th @ NANGA MUSIC FESTIVAL Nanga Bush Camp, Dwellingup, WA The new Nanga Music Festival is a celebration of acoustic music, with a focus on contemporary folk. The festival will be held on the weekend of 12-14 September 2008 at the Nanga Bush Camp near Dwellingup, a little over an hour’s drive from Perth. The bush camp is set in a beautiful, unspoilt jarrah forest next to the scenic Murray River. The Nanga Music Festival replaces the Araluen Folk Festival, which ceased in 2007 after 10 years. We want to retain and build on the successful elements of Araluen, especially its laid-back nature and a programme where you don’t find yourself rushing between venues. Our intention is also to keep the intimate nature of Araluen, where the artists mingle with the patrons, and where there is a great sense of community. We will also continue the Araluen tradition of the Blind Date concert, where artists and festival-goers are put into groups of three and given 24 hours to put anact together. Brenda will be performing a few sets with her full band over the weekend as well as appearing solo in the Women Song Concert and making a special appearance with The Wintersmiths. For more details …

We will each do some original material solo … as well as some improvised collaborations!

MAY Friday 30th May – Sun 1st June @ The Denmark Festival of Voice Brenda performed a set of her original songs as well as directing a set with her new “Inner Voices” Community Choir. She will also be facilitating a Songwriting workshop over the weekend. So come on down and enjoy a funfilled weekend of great music and merriment! APRIL Sunday 27th April @ 11:00am Fairbridge Folk Festival -Pinjarra, Western Australia Brenda performed some of her original songs in a special songwriters round robin event – along with her extraordinarily talented bunch of regular Songwriting Group Buddies: Jane Cornes & Margie Hanly (Doris) Simon Nield, David Hyams & Ken Kelso. They will be talking about the songwriting process as well as performing their original work. It’s a must for all keen songwriters!
