Private Lessons with Guitar Tom. How can I help you? If you want to learn how to play guitar well and quickly, without the bad habits, stress, slow pace, lost time, confusion and frustration of trying to teach yourself or trying to learn from free tabs or watching online guitar lessons, then you should try one-on-one private lessons with Guitar Tom. There is no way to replace an experienced teacher for proper instruction, insight, feedback and guidance. Whether you are a beginner or someone who has played for years, if you want to advance to the next level or levels, you will definitely benefit from private lessons. Over the years I have had many students come to me who are not satisfied with their guitar instructor or the music schools they were working with. The reason they left their other teacher and stuck with me is simple. I can help them better. I have been giving 30-40 lessons per week for over 10 years and teaching for almost 20. I probably teach more lessons in one month thanmost of my competitors have given in their lives, and I have a TON of experience helping people play better. It’s akin to the kid down the street who works on cars. He may have potential as a mechanic, but lacks the experience. You certainly wouldn’t let him work on YOUR car. Not to simply save a few dollars. I feel you should get the most for your money and shouldn’t waste time with inexperienced teachers. I’ve been teaching guitar for almost 20 years, and have taught students as young as 5 and as old and 75. I have given thousands of guitar lessons in my life and will use everything I’ve learned from my music education (a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music), my many years of playing a wide range of musical genres, performing, composing and, especially, teaching, to help my students learn quickly and efficiently. I have learned a LOT from teaching as well. Over the years I’ve paid close attention to what works for my students and what doesn’t work, to help them improve. You do not needto know how to read music to get started, however, I would be happy to teach you if you are interested. For Beginners, the right teacher can make all the difference. My goal is to harness my student’s enthusiasm and to have them making music during their first lesson, while enjoying the process. For more Advanced players, I act as a ‘fishing guide’, helping them change chords quicker, play barre chords better, as well as demonstrating new techniques, learning songs and music, much as a fishing guide would take you to new fishing spots, show you new techniques and help add to your repertoire. My motto is “Learn music YOU like”. It’s supposed to be fun. We work hard, but have fun doing it. I encourage my students’ input into what type of music, songs, groups and styles they want to learn to play, and what their musical goals are. We will cover everything, from basic approach, finger coordination, picking and strumming to more advanced techniques. I work with my students on chords, songs, lead guitar, solos, dexterity exercises, music theory, sight reading, finger-picking and more. You name it, we can do it. I have locations in the Northwest Suburbs, in Des Plaines and Mount Prospect, and work with students of all ages and all levels, beginners or advanced players, from the local area, including Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Mt. Prospect, Elk Grove Village, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Glenview, Niles and elesewhere.
