10 Easy Songs For A Beginner Level Guitarist Hello Readers! This post is meant for all those aspiring guitarists out there who have just recently picked up the guitar and are looking for some songs to jam with their buddies or to make an impression on a special someone, or just for the sake of practicing the newly acquired skills! This list could be a lot bigger. It depends entirely on you, how much you practice Transcribing or your Technique. Here I present a list of 10 Songs For Beginner Level Guitarists. A few songs have some related technical tip. Maybe chords, keys or scales. Rest you need to figure out! 1. Knocking On Heaven’s Door – Bob Dylan This is one of those songs which almost every guitar player plays at some point in their life. Chords – G Maj, D Maj, A Min and C Maj This song has been covered by a lot of artists, the Guns N’ Roses version being the most popular. I would suggest to get a hold of the original, before you go for the G N’ R one, because it needs some technical expertise that a beginner usually findsdifficult to get a grip on. Also, while playing the G N’ R version, you need to tune down each string a half step i.e. Eb-Bb-Gb-Db-Ab-Eb. 2. Karma Police – Radiohead This song is that one song which has an unusual flavour to it. A true masterpiece by Radiohead. Tip – You need to use your thumb to play the F# base note for a D Maj/F#. 3. Fake Plastic Trees – Radiohead This is a relatively simple song but is really melodious and the lyrics are quite interesting! Tip – If you haven’t learnt suspended chords, my suggestion is to learn the basic A sus 2 and 4 and D sus 2 and 4 before you go for this one. 4. Somebody’s Me – Enrique An all time guitarist’s favourite! I would not give any tips on this one because it has application of the knowledge of the above songs. Transcribe this yourself! 5. 21 Guns – Green Day This song has that F Barre shape which really can help you with your transition from Open to Barred chords. Tip – C Major scale might need your keen eye. 6. Life AfterYou – Daughtry This is a beautiful song written by Chris Daughtry. It is a very simple progression but it quite catchy! Tip – Use the Power chord shape for the B and C# Min with the open high E. 7. Teardrops On My Guitar – Taylor Swift A song that took Taylor Swift to the hearts of many of her fans! And even for this one you figure out yourself. It is simple and easy. Try it! 8. Hey, Soul Sister – Train This is one of those songs which can put some real life into your performance. Tip – The song begins with a Ukulele intro, it can be replicated on an acoustic guitar without a capo – if played on the highest 4 strings. 9. Gotta Get It Right (Acoustic) – Sixx:A.M. Acoustic rock is what this song is. You need powerful vocals if you want to put this one up! Tip – A#Maj comes in at one time in the song. Be careful. Keep your rhythm steady. 10. Wake Me Up When September Ends – Green Day Some songs are just so magnificent, that when you hear them, they inspire you to pick up yourguitar and start playing. This is one of those songs. If you thought, you can’t – well, its pretty easy and saucy I must say. Tip – C Maj and C Min both come in the song and the solo is just involving 2 strings G and B at 11-12-13-15 frets. Now, already I have told you enough. Get down there with your axe and start playing! Hope you found this article helpful and interesting.
