RETURN!! WE WERE BLOWN AWAY WITH THE MUSIC THESE GUYS PRODUCED. WRECKS USED TO PLAY WITH THEM AND WILL PLAY AND SING A BIT WHEN THEY PLAY. ALL ORIGINAL ROCK-N-ROLL
The Louvres play original songs written by Sean Walters. The Louvres are an electric guitar based classic rock and roll band with a touch of psychedelic country or more simply, Americana. On their new CD “Still Life,” the Louvres have it all on display for your listening pleasure, from core rock, “Dancing with the Dogs” to anthemic ballads like “Dreamland” and “Hard Life’. Live and in the studio, The Louvres create lush arrangements fueled by Sean Walters incredible, distinctive voice floating over a inccendiary dual guitar attack and a solid, rootsy rhythm section. The songs are fabulous with lyrical quality that’s rare these days. It all makes for make a distinctive, authentic, imminently enjoyable sound!
The Louvres originally formed in Houston during the 80’s. They had a standing gig at Wayne’s Juarez until it was closed and then built a large regional following playing around Houston at places like Chelsea 804, the Parlour, Blythe Spirits, Cafe LA, Dan Electro’s etc. Band alumni also include Wrecks Bell and Mike Fischer. The current band got together to rehearse for a reunion show at Wreck’s Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe in Galveston in 2008. Hurricane Ike saw to it that that show didn’t happen. But that loss is our gain as the band managed to record “Still Life” since then and is now back out playing live shows.
SEAN WALTERS is the band leader, songwriter, singer & rhythm guitar player. A fixture on the Houston music scene since his Old Market Square gigs in the 70’s, Sean was well known during the 80’s for presenting the Sean Walters’ Songwriters Showcase every Sunday night. He started that at the Heights Diner, then moved to Blythe Spirits, then took the showcase to Chelsea 804. Sean was well known around town in those days & was respected as a songwriter & showman. He also had a group called the Wooters that did performance art shows. In the 70’s Sean had a lot of success on the college circuit with a country rock band called Walters & Hickman. Sean also starred as Judas in a bootleg production of Jesus Christ Superstar that toured the US.
JIMMY JONES played lead guitar and arranged a lot of Sean’s songs for the band. Jimmy has a long history of playing music in Houston. He’s fronted and played guitar for various bands (The Kick & Ragdog, Overload, Herschel Berry). His bands released albums and recieved widespread airplay. In addition to The Louvres, Jimmy is currently working on a project featuring members of the fabulous Chiggers among others.
LEW ANDRE MATTHEWS also plays lead guitar. He was a member of the near mythical Hemmer Ridge Mountain Boys who often played with Townes Van Zant back in the 70’s. He has played guitar on albums by Lucinda Williams, Richard Dobson and he & his wife Sharon’s group The Love Band. He owns and operates Arbor Road Recording Studio in Elgin, Texas where the Louvres recorded “Still Life.”
Drummer JOHNNY MCNALLY is a virtuoso on many instruments. His talents draw from a diverse knowledge of musical genres including rock, classical, the Broadway musical, jazz and blues. He has played bass, guitar, piano and drums in scores of productions from New York City to Los Angeles. His musicality is the heartbeat of the Louvres sound.
MICKEY WILLIAMS plays bass guitar. He began playing in bar bands at the tender age of 14, going on to many other musical adventures. (like the rest of the band, the first records he played on really were records! ) After spending most of the 90’s mixing Front Of House sound all over the globe for a wide range of acts, from Grammy winner Rick Trevino to platinum selling Fastball, Mickey quit the road to be a stay at home Dad to two daughters. He currently operates Goodnight Austin, a Pro Audio/Sound Reinforcement company in Austin, Texas, and has returned to his first love, playing bass behind great songwriters like Sean Walters in The Louvres and Herschel Berry and the Natives.
