In the 15+ years I have been a guitar teacher (including the past 9 years at Seattle University) I have created and organized lessons and lesson plans based on fundamental music concepts for hundreds of students. But not everyone can afford (or has time for) private lessons, so I’ve shared 150+ free guitar lessons along with a 4 year weekly lesson guide with you here. You will need to buy the so you can do the actual work, but I don’t think you’ll find a better value. Just look at this page. 🙂 You’ll see the work of a dedicated, organized, and passionate teacher who has a proven track record and who wants to help you.
Here’s my personal reason for doing all this: Right now, it’s almost impossible for young musicians to be accepted into college music programs unless they have had years of private music lessons, which costs thousands of dollars. That means that the only students who can study music in college are the ones who could afford music lessons in high school. I don’t like that, and I don’t think anyone does.
In 2010, I completed the Faculty Fellows Program and I introduced Academic Service Learning into my Seattle University courses to bring attention to this issue and to begin to address it. Now, I’m offering my lessons and structure here, which is a big deal. I hope it shows my commitment to young musicians and it leads me to a path where I can do more to address this issue. If you dig it and you want to help, please share the link. Thank you.

Below you’ll see the main objectives for the 4 year course (followed by the weekly syllabus) I use in my private studio as well as for my college guitar courses at Seattle University. First year guitar students use . Second through fourth year guitar students use . Obviously, since this is a general syllabus, I adjust assignments for each student.
