An experienced singer and acoustic guitarist, Pat McIntyre loves serenading couples on their wedding day with his unique live music.
Having trained classically as a pianist at a young age, Pat McIntyre managed to teach himself guitar in his early teens. Now an established musician with over 10 years experience in the industry – as part of various bands (with varying levels of success), as well as solo performances with his acoustic guitar.
“I moved to Bristol nearly ten years ago now, and instantly fell in love with the city and its vibrant music scene. I performed on the acoustic circuit for a few years before taking up residency at two local venues as a singer and guitarist.”
“I wanted to provide something a little different to the existing classical guitarists who perform at weddings. My niche is modern acoustic guitar and vocals, with the added twist of performing live with a loop pedal. My style of music provides an interesting focal point, especially at wedding drinks receptions and evening events. I’m proud of what I have achieved so far, and look forward to growing the business in the coming years!”
Let the music play
Making the decision to set up his wedding music business came easy and the service proved to be very popular with couples. One thing stood out for him from the start – the pleasure and buzz he gets from performing on the wedding day itself! Whether he is playing chilled out tunes in the afternoon, or getting everyone up on the dance floor in the evening, Pat enjoys being part of the day.
“It’s a real privilege to be chosen to provide the music for a couple’s unforgettable day. I love the fact that every wedding is different, and that I’m constantly being surprised in this industry. It certainly keeps you on your toes!”
Working independently allows him to talk to couples directly and give a truly personal service. Happy to meet with the couples as many times as required, Pat is always on hand for help and advice. His flexible and accommodating approach means that couples are completely in charge can select their entire playlist, if they wish to.
“I welcome song requests and I’m always happy to learn new songs – I’m even happy to record requests at my home studio and send them over as an mp3. My ethos is simple: It’s the couple’s big day, so they’re in charge. You won’t get any unreasonable demands or ego when you book me!”
Talking about one of his career highlights, Pat retells: “A few days before I was due to perform at a wedding at Berkeley Castle, I received an email from the bride-to-be informing me that a BBC Radio 1 DJ was going to be attending the wedding and was looking forward to hearing me play (no pressure!) It turned out to be the radio and TV presenter Matt Edmondson. I’m very pleased to say he danced to my set all evening and, when I talked to him afterwards, he gave me a glowing recommendation!”
