This Guitar Lessons For Beginners daily post is for Oasis Wonderwall. For the record, I bought my first guitar capo so I could play this song the correct way on my guitar. Yes, you will need a guitar capo to play this song the correct way FYI. Anyways, this song was a huge hit in the 90’s on the radio and Oasis was kind of like the “Beatles” of my generation. They’ve got a ton of great songs but a few other personal favorites are: “Don’t look back in anger”, “Champagne Supernova” and “All around the world”. This band has a killer sound and they actually use a lot of the same scales and tricks that a lot of bands used coming out of England in the 1960’s.
I love Oasis Wonderwall because the Oasis Wonderwall Guitar Chords are very basic but yet they sound different and give the song a great deal of emotional value. The Oasis Wonderwall chords are your basic textbook chords played with a killer strumming pattern and interesting pauses in parts which makes this song very unique from others.
This is one of my favorite 90’s songs and every time I hear it, it takes me right back to high school. This song is also a really fun song to play and I hope that you can take something from my free videos below.
What is Oasis Wonderwall About?
First off this Oasis album was the second best selling album in British history behind Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in the 1960’s. The song was said to be about Noel’s then girlfriend Meg Matthews but he claims that it wasn’t. He said that the media had also taken the meaning and “ran away with it”. Wonderwall was based on “Wonderwall Music” from George Harrison’s 1960’s movie and solo album released in the 1960’s. The move was apparently horrible and it was about a man who was spying on his neighbor. Weird huh?…The Chords For Wonderwall again are all basic guitar chords. The chords for wonderwall are played though with a capo on the second fret. This is the way that Oasis plays it and all other ways of playing It are wrong. The chords for wonderwall are basically: Em/G, G, D, and Cadd9 (to see a better explanation of the guitar chords for wonderwall please watch the guitar lessons for beginners videos below). The chords for wonderwall are very basic and a lot of getting the right sound in this song is the strumming pattern (also covered in the guitar lessons for beginners videos below).

How to get the Oasis Wonderwall sound out of your guitar?
First off, this song is played on a 6 string acoustic guitar. If you play the chords for wonderwall and they sound a little bit off, remember to use a capo… That will put the chords for wonderwall in the right key.
You can pretty much use and acoustic guitar once again with medium to medium/thick strings. I would avoid very light strings for this song, they just will sound to “tinny”.
