Since 1996 The Air Guitar World Championships have been held in Oulu, Finland; this seemingly absurd pursuit has really taken off!
A Few Tips If You’re Just Starting Out
1. Guitar! Buy a guitar from your local guitar shop as they can set you up with a good beginner’s guitar that shouldn’t break the bank 2. Lessons! A few lessons will get you on the road in the right direction 3. Melodies! Learning melodies are great as they are generally easy to play and are good for warming up 4. Practice! Little and often 5. Make those chord shapes routinely 6. Use chord progressions (Em-C-D and repeat) and remember to keep hands close to the strings during changes 7. Clean your strings regularly as this will not only make the guitar action better, but the simple act of cleaning your strings will make your strings last for years… Ok, maybe not years but a lot longer. If you want to, invest in a good string cleaner, but to be perfectly honest a soft cloth will do the trick. Remember to clean under the strings! Remember your a womble! Now there’s a song that nobody requests – it was catchy, honestly! 8. Barre chords – I’m working on this bit… Over and out for now!
Oh! One other thing: Remember you don’t need to buy a guitar that breaks the bank!
