Briscoe House Band – Winter term 2016 – Tuesdays, January 12th – March 8th.

We are a large rock horn band for teenaged kids, usually 12 to 17 members.

Open to all instrumentalists and singer/instrumentalists ages  13 – 18, by audition or referral by school band director. 

Rehearsals: Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00. eight Tuesdays for term and play a show the last week of the trimester.

Where: David  Scoggin Piano Studio at the Briscoe ArtWing in the old Briscoe elementary school in Ashland, 265 N. Main, Laurel Street entrance by basketball courts.

Cost: $135 per 9 week term.  Payment needed to reserve place in band.  Because we fill up each term and have to turn musicians away we cannot give refunds.

Instruments: Electric & acoustic guitars, keyboards, piano, bass, drums, percussion, all saxophones, trumpet, trombone, flute, vocalists, mando-blaster, melodica… 

Music: Original Jam Tunes, Black Keys, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Trombone Shorty, Janis Joplin, Ozomatli, Pharrell Williams, Chicago, Alice Cooper, Santana, Herbie Hancock, WAR, Ray Charles, Us 3, Train, Wild Cherry, Buddy Holly, Adele…

Songs chosen by band members by consensus.  Horns arranged before next rehearsal. Improvised soloing taught and encouraged. 

Gig: We play a gig the last week of the trimester after 8 rehearsals. We have played the Avalon, the Ashland Elks Club, the Standing Stone, the Ashland Historic Armory, the Briscoe ArtWing, and Belle Fiore Winery.
