I teach beginners guitar on either acoustic or electric in rock and pop styles. Lessons are available in 30 minute or 1 hour sessions, and my prices are:
30 minutes: £18.00 1 hour: £28.00
My lessons are designed for beginners, or people with limited guitar knowledge who wish to improve. My focus is on getting you playing songs you enjoy, and therefore there is an emphasis on learning chords, rhythm, and understanding the layout of the fretboard. The idea is to give you a foundation upon which you can build on. Concepts such as a scales usually come later.
I will also teach you basic music theory, but will not bombard you with it! I design the lessons so that you learn technical skills and theory without realising, and then explain what has been happening once you have assimilated it.
Teaching Policy Lesson length and pricing Your first lesson can be a free taster lesson, lasting approximately 15-20 minutes. Bespoke lesson lengths may be available upon request. Please ask, and if it is possible then an appropriate price will be determined. It is possible for me to teach more than one student at a time, although it may not be practical if the students are at different levels of ability. Prices will be as above plus half again for each additional student. Payment Payment is accepted by either cash or cheque. The payment is required at the same time as your lesson takes place. Payment for multiple lessons in advance can also be accepted by cash, cheque or online bank transfer. Cancellation policy If a student is unable to make a lesson for any reason, at least 24 hours notice must be given and the lesson fee will be waived. If less than 24 hours notice is given, the full price of the lesson will still be due. Lateness policy If you arrive late for a lesson, I willalways try to still give you the full time for which you are paying for. Please be aware that this may not always be possible due to restrictions on my time and other student’s needs. The full payment for the lesson will still be required. Student requirements You may need to purchase some materials for the lesson. You will be provided with a capo for your own use, but students should bring their own: Guitar and plectrum(s) Electronic tuner Spare strings All study materials previously worked on Lesson content – what I will teach Students will be taught to play either the acoustic or electric guitar in rock and pop styles. My lessons are designed for beginners. I try to customise the lessons to each student and teach you by using your own musical interests. As much as possible I will try to use songs and artists you like as learning tools; students are welcome to bring in songs which they wish to learn. Music theory can also be taught if the student wishes, and will be included at themost basic level as a matter of course. I begin with chords and strumming, eventually moving on to basic scales, reading guitar tablature and rock guitar techniques (mostly only applicable to electric guitars).
