Last night at my show at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica I looked out at the crowd and lo and behold- my old pal Steve Wozniak was in the audience with his lovely wife Janet. He always shows up when I least expect it. I love this man. He was telling great stories last night about prank calling the Pope at The Vatican back in the late 70s when he figured out he to make free calls through some sort of box that replicated digital tones. He pretended he was Henry Kissinger and need to speak with The Pope. Hilarious!
He brought me a sheet of uncut 2 dollar bills for my birthday. I don’t know how he gets them but I’m sure it’s kind of illegal. Is the FBI reading this?
Anyways- the show was so much fun. I love playing McCabe’s. It reminds me of back in my younger days back in the 80s when I used to make the trek up to see shows. One time I drove up to see Loudon Wainwright III and it changed my life. I remember saying to myself “I want to do that! I want to stand on this stage and tell stories with an acoustic guitar and make people smile. This looks like a cool job!”
Anyways- thanks again for coming out the shows. It’s always fun to see new faces and familiar faces.
One really cool artist guy named Joshua made me a belt buckle. And he flew out all the way from Cleveland to give it to me last night. I’m going to wear it everyday. On the back he wrote – Steve Poltz – stay happy man ’16.
Wow! I’m wearing it on my upcoming Australia tour.
My final USA show before my very long Australia tour is this Wednesday in Santa Ynez Ca at The Maverick Saloon for the concert series Tales From The Tavern. February 24 at 7pm.
Thanks!
