IT’S A TRADITION!! ‘Tis the season when we gather and lift our voices together!! Christmas is the one time of the year where all people of all walks of life (and musical abilities) come together and sing! It’s a seasonal phenomenon, filled with the traditions of MUSIC!!

Please come join us on Monday, Dec 14, 2015 at 8:00 pm for the AFMDS annual Christmas Hoot featuring Christmas Carol Sing A Long w/ Tommy Jordan! Tommy passes out the words and takes requests as YOU get to pick the songs and sing along. One of our favorite shows of the year!! At our favorite pub, Yee Ole Little Kings! Opening our Christmas Hoot at 8:00 will be The Solstice Sisters and following them will be Klezmer Local 42. Then at 9:00, Tommy Jordan and Dick Daniels will lead us in our Christmas Caroling Sing A Long! Be sure to come early!

The Folk Festival Preview HOOT!! Monday Sept 10 @ The Melting Point Pavilion 8-10pm, admission is FREE

Our monthly show will highlight our upcoming North Georgia Folk Festival happening on October 6 at Sandy Creek Park north of Athens. And, this month’s Hoot will be located on the Pavilion, which is in the center of the Foundry Park/ Melting Point parking lot. We love the pavilion with it’s party lights and big ceiling fans! AND the Hoyt House will be serving up a special menu of delicious food! This month we’ll welcome back, from Rome, GA, Little Country Giants Blending originals with a wonderful old time country feel! They have played the festival in the past and we welcome them back to play our preview show! The Corduroy Road Who are playing at this years festival! They are planning a stripped down version of the band for the preview show, the full band for the festival! thecorduroyroad.com String Theory Toe tapping fiddle tunes & they often play for the Folk Society’s monthly dance and have also played at a past festival. The Athfest Sampler Monday, June 11 @ The Melting Point 8-10pm admission is FREE

This month our regular music variety show, The Hoot, will be borrowing talent from the upcoming downtown Athens festival, Athfest happening June 20-24. In addition to music, we’ll have information about the festival, free yard signs, compilation CD’s and Athfest wristbands for sale there. This year our show features bands who have songs on this years Athfest CD. Clay Leverett & The Buzzards, singing country tinged songs with pedal steel and acoustic guitars. Also, 40th Street Candid Coal People the one-man-band has picked up a piano & banjo player to join him doing orignial folk. And Americana singer/songwriter, Dodd Ferrelle will lay out some new tunes from his just released CD. Tommy Jordan guest hosts the evening and opens the show. For more information, or

We are back on the Melting Point Pavilion for the April installment of our monthly show! The Pavilion is located in the center of the Foundry Park Inn complex where the Melting Point is located. We LOVE the pavilion as we’re outside, under cover, in an intimate and festive atmosphere. Hoyt House provides us with a special menu for our show. Don’t miss your chance to come listen to music under the Pavilion and eat some good food there! This month we have a fantastic line up featuring The Skipperdees, twin sisters who play banjo, guitar, trumpet and sing great harmony’s. Also, returning to the Hoot is MrJordanMrTonks, which is Tommy & William doing acoustic versions of rock songs and more on Dobro & Guitar & Harmony Vocals. Our monthly music variety show continues! This month we welcome the blues, rock, Americana band, Driftwood, which includes a veteran cast of Athens musicians (driftwoodband.net). We also welcome J.D. Smith a indie/pop singer songwriter who recently finished her CD Conscious Earth with John Kean, a recording that benefits battered women (myspace.com/jdsmithmusic). And we also will have a set from farmer Todd Lister & Friends doing folk favorites, and maybe even some originals! And joining Todd will be a whole cast of characters….
