Howard “Happ” Palmer began playing acoustic guitar at 14 and became a lifelong disciple of the pedal steel guitar in the early 70’s when he first heard John Hughey’s fantastic steel work for George Jones and Conway Twitty and Norm Hamlet’s steel work behind Merle Haggard. Soon after he also learned he had a good voice and a special knack for singing country music, doing his first professional gig at the age of 14. It didn’t take long before he found himself touring the US and Canada both as a single and with various bands. While spending some time on a working ranch in northern Missouri, he learned the cowboy songs heloves to share with audiences. He now calls Loveland, Colorado his home and loves the area that has adopted him in, like a part of the family. Being in Nashville and a part of the music scene was one of his biggest thrills and soaking up all the country music history that was so much a part of that city.
